Bid Farewell to 2020! But hold onto your hats!

We all held our breath, hoping to get to 2021 in one piece. In new and various ways we managed, in the middle of this pandemic, to celebrate New Year's Eve and Day. We hoped that we had turned the corner on everything 2020 ushered in and that we could start focusing on creating a new normal for ourselves. But, in fact, we had not yet addressed the real, long-ignored issues that have plagued and festered in our world. All the systemic and vocal social disruptions and disturbances that rang out throughout the year, brought these issues into our consciousness. But they did not get addressed in a meaningful and effective manner. They were thus left to simmer and occasionally to boil over during the year.

Many suffered in 2020. Many died in 2020. Let us acknowledge those human lives and their passage on this earth. Let us wish a peaceful journey Home for those who have passed. There are also many still with us who are suffering from the pandemic, economic inequities, and social injustices. Many on the verge of losing everything they worked hard for. Many who have nothing but themselves and each other. We can no longer afford to draw lines to divide us and ask which side are you on. We can no longer afford to look at others and judge them and convince ourselves, “That’s not me.” We are all in this together.

We still have tough times ahead of us and the divisiveness fomented in recent years has the potential to become even more violent. It is up to each of us individually to choose love over fear and hate. To choose to respond rather than react. To learn to listen to others, regardless of their point of view.

The energy is still shifting. This shifting energy is changing us (whether we want to change or not). We haven’t landed yet in the new world we are creating. But what that new world will be... that depends on the choices we make now.

We all have some beliefs that can hold us back from our potential. We have life patterns, which we hold onto, and which actually make our lives harder than they need to be. We have our narrow perspectives which prevent us from seeing our greater possibilities.

But we also have the ability to choose. We can choose to hold on or let go. We can choose to reach out or close up and reject. We can choose to love or choose to fear and hate. We can get through this if we just reach out to each other through our hearts. We can use the words: Love, Harmony, and Balance as our mantra for 2021 and our future. The choice is ours.

Hold onto your hats folks! This year of 2021 will not be a glide-through-it sleeper. Do not be distracted by the vortex. Stay focused and choose well.
